My Erasmus+ adventure
My work placement in County Donegal, Northern Ireland
It all began with a heart full of uncertainty.
When I arrived in Derry, Northern Ireland, as part of my Erasmus placement, I had no idea that this adventure would change me so profoundly.
One day, whilst returning from a hike, I found myself completely disoriented. But what could have been a moment of panic turned into a lovely surprise: I met some Irish people whose kindness made a deep impression on me and showed me what genuine human warmth is all about. This unexpected detour ended up becoming one of the most cherished memories of my stay.
As a very introverted person, this experience has helped me to start taking risks. To dare to speak up, to give things a go, to make mistakes. I’ve learnt to take the plunge, even when I’m still feeling scared.
Adversity builds strength...
Hardships build strength, and the person you discover along the way can sometimes turn your life on its head… ose !
From the Erasmus+ experience to professional success
What next? An inspiring success story
And that sense of daring has followed me all the way to Finland, where I am currently doing voluntary work in Kokkola.
The key lesson I’ve learnt from this adventure is the importance of persevering, even when doubt sets in and things seem to be spiralling out of control. You have to learn to let go, keep an open mind and embrace the unexpected, because wonderful surprises often reveal themselves where you least expect them.
